一The Scalp Battle
Are You Losing the Oil Battle?
Why is it greasy by 4pm when you washed it this morning? Simple. Your scalp is sealed under a layer of hardened oil, and nothing you have ever used has reached it. The oil was never on your hair. It was on the skin, and your shampoo never got there.
Your Fingers Never Reach Your Scalp.
Same shampoo. Same shower. The only thing that changes is how far down it gets.
Shampoo cleans hair. That is all it does. Your fingers slide over the top. The skin underneath, where the oil and the buildup live, never gets touched. Ten years of showers. Zero scalp washes.
So we built the fix. The Japanese barbershop scalp wash, rebuilt to run inside the shower you already take. The dome drives your shampoo down to the skin. Heat. Pressure. Red light. Straight at the root. The first real wash your scalp has ever had.
I washed every single morning because by dinner it looked like I had not washed at all. That was my whole system since college. Now I skip a day and nobody can tell. My girlfriend asked who I was texting.

My barber does the fade, gets to the top, goes quiet. Three years of that silence. Last cut he asked what I was using and I got to say a Japanese word he had to Google.

I used to plan my showers around meetings so the grease would not show up on camera. Week three I stopped planning. That is the entire review.

Cap at the gym, cap at brunch, cap on video calls "because morning." The cap was never about the cut. It was about day two. Two weeks in the cap stayed on the hook.

Expected placebo, and I say that as an engineer. The scope does not do placebo. Same spot on my crown, night one and night twelve, and the shine on the skin is just gone. I showed my brother instead of explaining. He ordered one.

The Actual Problem
Washed this morning. Greasy by 4pm. One reason behind all of it.
Greasy by 4pm
Washed at 7am. By mid-afternoon the roots are wet again and the crown has gone flat. Nothing you did today caused it.2
Day two is cap day
Second-day hair means a hat, or a wash you did not want. The cap stops being a style and starts being a cover.
Wash it more, it comes back faster
Every wash strips the surface, so the scalp answers with double. The more often you wash, the shorter the clean window gets.2
The oil you cannot see
Under magnification it is a hardened plug of oil sitting in every follicle opening. That is the source, and no shampoo has ever reached it.1
洗
二The Part Nobody Told You
Count your washes.
Three washes a week since you were fifteen. Twenty-five years later, that is 3,900 washes. Now count how many ever cleaned your scalp. Not the hair. The skin underneath it.
WASHED 3,900 TIMESThe hair
Shampoo glides over the top, cleans the strands, and rinses away.6
WASHED 0 TIMESThe skin underneath
More oil than any other skin on your body,5 mixed with styling product, sweat and hard-water minerals. It compresses. It hardens around each follicle like wax around a wick.
Trichologists call it buildup. We call it the sebum plug. A plugged follicle never regulates, so it keeps pushing oil onto a surface that is already coated. And every expensive drop you put on top of the plug stays on top of the plug.
Night one, for most people.
In Japan the scalp wash comes with the cut. Comb, lather, knead. Standard, every chair. America renamed it the head spa and priced it at $150 a session.
The steps were never the secret. The access was.
Why Nothing Has Worked
You already tried. Here is why each one failed.
Clarifying shampoo
Strips the surface. Misses the plug. Dries the scalp until it pumps double the oil. Day two arrives sooner than before.
Growth serums
Good actives, wrong landing zone. On a plugged scalp, serum sits on top and does nothing. Fertilizer on pavement. Keep the bottle. Fix the surface first.
Fingernails + plastic brushes
They scratch the surface and inflame the skin. A barber's hands never scratch. They knead. Pressure, rotation, at the root, under water.
The barbershop
Your barber sees it before you do, every three weeks, under the clippers. He says “buildup” and moves on. He cuts hair. The problem is skin. It was never his job to fix it.
Waiting
The plug does not plateau. It hardens, and the clean window keeps shrinking. The other direction works too: a cleared follicle regulates again. Start.
All of it is still under your sink. None of it ever reached the skin.
Introducing
Finally, a way to actually wash your scalp.
The Japanese Scalp Reset: the whole barbershop finish, rebuilt to run inside the shampoo you already take. The first scalp wash of your life happens tonight.
This is the finish I gave at the end of every cut for twenty-five years, taken apart and rebuilt for a shower. Same movements. Same order. Your hands instead of mine.
Taken apart and rebuilt for a shower.
Still the same shower you were taking anyway. The only new thing is where the shampoo goes.
My wife bought this and I made fun of it for a week. Then I used it once and now we argue about whose turn it is. I don't know how to describe it except my head feels decompressed. Ordering a second one so we stop fighting.

Everything Inside Your Scalp Reset Kit
The Kamiyu Dome+
84 silicone nodes on counter-rotating heads knead the way a barber's hands knead: pressure, rotation, at the root, under water. Onsen warmth softens hardened buildup, and 630-680nm red light lands where it matters. IPX7 - it lives in the shower.
The Scalp ScopeFREE+
A 1080p scalp camera that plugs into your phone. Look at the buildup before your first session, look again at week three. Proof beats promises.
The Scalp ApplicatorFREE+
Hollow silicone teeth press shampoo directly onto the skin, under the hair - pressed onto a parted scalp the way it is done in the chair, never rubbed into hair and hoped.
The Scalp CombFREE+
Stiff hollow teeth rake buildup off the skin itself - front to back, before the water. It cleans the scalp, not the hair, and one press of the button clears the comb.
The Japanese Scalp Health GuideFREE+
Digital, sent right after checkout. Why the oil rebounds, what actually breaks the cycle, and the 60-night reset plan, week by week.

髪湯
kamiyu noun · Japanese
From kami, hair, and yu, the water of the bath. The hair bath. The Japanese practice of washing the scalp itself, not just the hair. Standard in Japanese barbershops for generations. Performed in American salons for $150 a session. Now performed in your shower. TikTok made it famous. Japanese barbers made it standard.
The Method
I was a barber for twenty-five years. It was my job.
My name is Riku Yamamoto. I cut hair in Tokyo for twenty-five years, and I washed every scalp I ever cut.
Riku Yamamoto, the Tokyo master barber behind the Kamiyu method
In a Japanese barbershop the wash is not an add-on. It comes with the chair, the way the fade comes with the chair. The comb through dry hair. The cleanser pressed to the skin. The knead at the crown, under warm water. No man ever asked for it. No man ever skipped it.
A barber sees what a man never sees: his own crown, from above, under bright light, every three weeks for years. I watched buildup arrive on men in their twenties. I watched hair leave with it later. Not one of them ever said a word. Men do not book treatments. They book haircuts, and let the treatment happen to them.
Men do not ask for help with this. So in my shop, I never made them ask.
But a chair sees a man every few weeks. His scalp lives in his shower. That gap bothered me for years. Kamiyu is how I stopped letting it.
It is the finish of my chair, rebuilt to run in your own shower, on your own head, with the shampoo you already own. And the scope in the box shows you your own crown, the view only your barber ever gets. Look once. You will not need convincing twice.
The Barbershop Finish
The end of every cut, step by step.
Every cut I ever finished ended the same way. Same steps, same order. Swipe through them.
1The Look
The scope goes on the scalp and the screen turns around. You cannot fix what you have never seen. The add-on: the Scalp Camera.
2The Comb
Dry, through the hair, before any water. It opens a path so the cleanser can reach skin. In your box: the acacia comb.
3The Knead
Pressure, warmth and red light, worked into the skin while the lather sits. The step that makes it a treatment. In your box: Kamiyu.
That is the whole finish. All three steps, same order, your shower.
The honest comparison
You are already paying for this problem.

What makes the Kamiyu different?
Three things no basic massager does, working at once: 84 counter-rotating nodes that knead the way a therapist's hands knead, Onsen warmth that softens hardened buildup so it lifts instead of clinging, and red light at 630 to 680nm delivered against the scalp itself. Then the system around it: the comb, the applicator that puts shampoo on skin instead of hair, and the Scope that lets you watch it work. It is the full barbershop finish, comb to knead, with every tool to run it.
I keep my hair short. Does this still matter?
Short hair means better node contact, not less need. The buildup is on the skin, and clippers never touch skin. Buzz cuts get the most direct contact of anyone.
Does it work with the shampoo I already use?
Yes. That is the point. A clarifying or oil-control shampoo only works if it reaches scalp skin, and it usually rinses off in seconds. Lather, then knead it in with Kamiyu. Salicylic acid, charcoal, tea tree: whatever your shampoo uses to cut oil, it finally gets contact time on the skin instead of the strands.
Will it work on my scalp?
Greasy by mid-afternoon, flat by lunch, day two impossible without a cap: it looks like several problems but it is one, the hardened oil plugged into the follicle openings. That is the surface Kamiyu clears. One honest exception: if you have psoriasis, eczema, open sores, or you are under a dermatologist's care for a scalp condition, check with them first. We would rather lose the sale than pretend otherwise.
How fast will I notice something?
The first flush shows you immediately: the rinse water tells the story. Most men say the clean window starts stretching inside the first two weeks, an hour or two at a time. Getting a real day two takes longer, so give it the full 60 nights, which is exactly what the guarantee covers.
How do I use it?
Three steps, inside the shower you already take. Comb it through dry to open a path. Fill the applicator and press the shampoo onto your scalp, not your hair. Then ten minutes with the dome and rinse. The only new thing is where the shampoo goes.
Is the device really waterproof?
IPX7. It lives in the shower. Rinse it under the tap when you rinse yourself. It charges by USB-C between rituals.
Is it safe for colored or treated hair?
Yes. The system treats the scalp, not the strands. The shampoo goes on at the root and rinses clean. Nothing in the system strips color.
Long hair? Curls? Locs?
The device's fingers work at the scalp, under the hair, and the routine was built shower-wet. For protective styles, use the applicator along exposed partings and the dome on wash days.
Why is there no serum in the kit?
Because you almost certainly already own one, and it was never the problem. The surface it landed on was. Kamiyu is the tool kit that clears that surface. Put your minoxidil, your rosemary oil, your $60 peptide serum on a cleared scalp and it reaches skin instead of buildup. The device even has a cabin you fill with your own.
How does the Day Two Guarantee work?
Run the routine for 60 nights, counted from the day yours arrives. Then skip a wash and look at your roots at 4pm. If the test fails, one email to hello@trykamiyu.com refunds every cent, and we pay the return shipping. No forms. No fights. Less than 1% of our customers have ever asked.
What about shipping and returns?
Free U.S. shipping on every order, out of Cheyenne, Wyoming within 48 hours, with tracking the moment it leaves. Returns are the guarantee: 60 nights, full refund, we pay the return label. A real person answers hello@trykamiyu.com inside one business day.

Fifteen years of buying the right shampoo and using it wrong.
All of it went on my hair. The oil was never coming from my hair. It was coming off the scalp, which I had never once washed properly. Same barber, same cut, and last week he asked what changed.

The rinse water ran grey the first night. Grey.
I stood there staring at the grey water, because I have showered after the gym every day for twenty years. But night 14 is the part I did not expect: I caught myself checking my hairline in the elevator mirror. Not checking. Just looking.

I do not have to wash it every single morning.
I am 63 and I assumed the greasy head was just part of getting older, like everything else. My son set this up in my shower and wrote the three steps on a note. Week three: I skipped a morning wash before church and forgot about it entirely. I had not skipped one in years.

So I looked it up and ended up here. A few quiet minutes a night where my phone cannot reach me. Roots still clean on day two by week two. I checked. Checking is what I do.

My daughter gets married in October. I ordered this the night the engagement photos came back, because all I could see was how flat and greasy it looked under the lights. Night 21: my barber got to the top of the fade and asked what changed. I am not wearing a hat at that wedding.

Three minutes of kneading while the lather sits. The rest fits inside the shower I already take. I have a drawer of things I quit: the derma stamp, the rosemary drops, the $5 brush from TikTok. I am an engineer, so I did not believe the red light part. I looked up the wavelength studies on my phone while my wife was already using it. Fine: the literature is real. But what sold me was dumber than that. I ran the Scope over my crown before and after one week. You can see the difference on the screen. Data wins.

Feels amazing, but honest note: I keep my hair longer and the first two nights I tangled it around the heads until I figured out you part the hair first and keep it moving. The method card actually says that, I just did not read it. Scalp definitely feels cleaner. Day two stopped being a problem.
